Advanced Distribution System Design for Reliability
9:00 am-5:00 pm
Utilities and end-users are well aware of the importance of reliable, high-quality electric power in fostering economic development and sustaining a competitive economic environment. Reliable distribution system design helps to attract new technology industries to “power quality parks”, while maintaining a high degree of service satisfaction for existing customers. This seminar is designed to present utilities and large power users with the latest innovations for advanced distribution system design, including: high-reliability distribution systems using high-speed fault detection, rapid fault clearing, and isolation in primary looped systems; fault isolation and automatic restoration systems using new pulse-closing technology, advanced adaptive protection, and communication-enhanced coordination. The seminar will also include discussion of the impact of advanced distribution design on reliability indices and the cost of the design evaluated against the expected reduction in the duration of interruptions, measured in dollars per SAIDI minute.
