This course will review the basic concepts of Harmonics and Voltage Unbalance according to IEEE 519 – 1992 and ANSI/IEEE C84.1. The course will also cover known state regulations that have adopted said recommendations as Power Quality Standards under their rules that govern electric service. The student will work out examples of IEEE 519 – 1992 and ANSI/IEEE C84.1. The student will also see examples of both standards applied to a specific case. Finally, the student will learn the effects of harmonics on equipment and methods to manage harmonics. Learning will be verified by questioning the students throughout the class and by a quiz at the end of the class.
