Thursday, October 26, 2006 PQT 12 Impedance – A New Approach 8:30 am-10:30 am Impedance related phenomena are the cause of numerous power quality issues. This session will explore techniques for optimizing distribution impedance and understanding the causes and effects of intermittent and non-linear impedances on power quality. Advances in impedance measurement technology will also be presented. The use of distribution impedance measurements to localize power quality problems will be introduced. Attendees at this session will learn of common errors that can affect the design and performance of a facility's electrical distribution system from mains to branch circuits to individual loads. In addition, the importance of accurate distribution system impedance measurement in assessing arc flash potential will be introduced.
