Wednesday, October 25, 2006 PQS 05 Overview of Reliability Modeling Using the New “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities” chapter in the IEEE Gold Book 8:30 am-9:30 am The new revision of the Gold Book, IEEE Standard 493, Recommended Practice for the Design of Reliable Industrial and commercial Power Systems has a new chapter, “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities.” This paper will provide an overview of the new chapter, along with a review of reliability concepts, terminology and modeling using Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD). It will also present some RBD models of the electrical distribution systems used in “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities.”
