Overview of Reliability Modeling Using the New “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities” chapter in the IEEE Gold Book

The new revision of the Gold Book, IEEE Standard 493, Recommended Practice for the Design of Reliable Industrial and commercial Power Systems has a new chapter, “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities.” This paper will provide an overview of the new chapter, along with a review of reliability concepts, terminology and modeling using Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD). It will also present some RBD models of the electrical distribution systems used in “7X24 Continuous Power Facilities.”
