Solving power factor and harmonics problems require detailed analysis. This session will explore the latest harmonic mitigation and power factor correction methods. A presentation will be given on improving power quality and increasing the capacity of systems with dynamic loads through harmonic mitigation and power factor correction. Some loads create both harmonic and power factor problems. Treating power factor and harmonic problems as a single issue at their source will be investigated. New technologies that are available to provide reactive power compensation and dynamic voltage control will be discussed. Premature power factor capacitor failure is common and can be mysterious. Causes and solutions will be addressed.
