PQS 06
Elevated Neutral to Earth Voltage, Energized Metallic Objects and Stray Voltage Concerns
8:30 am-9:30 am
Stray Voltage is the catchall term that is being used for every shock and perception complaint ranging from shocks on energized manholes covers to animal contact and perception concerns. This session is designed to clear up some of the confusion surrounding the definitions for contact voltages, cover the history of shock and perception concerns, summarize research projects that have been completed and the ones that are ongoing, and discuss new standards development activities within the IEEE. Further the session will address approaches for characterizing problems, identifying the most effective solutions, and will discuss regulatory needs and requirements.
