Monday, October 24 PAC 19 Custom Power Solutions for Power Quality Issues – CEU Certified Course 9:00 am-5:00 pm This seminar will provide a brief review of the causes of power-quality-related problems on utility and end-user electrical distribution systems and an in-depth discussion of commercially-available custom power technologies for solving these problems. This will include discussion of the causes and effects of voltage sags and swells, interruptions, and flicker, as well as the typical characteristics of these types of power disturbances. Custom power solutions to be discussed include the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Flywheel Energy Storage (FES) system, Source-Transfer Systems (STS), Static VAR Compensator (SVC), Adaptive VAR Compensator (AVC), and Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM). The course will compare the various solutions and give the participant the tools to find the right custom power solution for their power quality problem.
Please note: Due to Convention Center Space availability, we will be holding the Sunday, October 23, 2005 Professional Advancement Courses (PAC) at the Wyndham Inner Harbor Hotel. |
