Tuesday, October 25 PQS 04 The Business of Power Analytics - Power Qualities New Frontier 8:30 am-9:30 am Power systems are complex engineering and scientific designs whose predicable performance is essential to every business and government agency. While developing economies and mature locations differ in the critical inputs to their systems, the output requirements are the same, reliable, predicable and available power. Power analytics is a concept and discipline that anticipates bringing the breakthrough management techniques of business analytics to power systems. By combining advanced technical modeling and simulation tools from power systems design software with real-time data acquisition, normalized power data is instantly related to theoretical performance and the resulting analysis is instantly communicated to business and power professionals. For mission critical systems this provides unprecedented levels of understanding of the health of a power system, treated as a system and not a collection of device or location specific alarms. Part of the session will be used to provide a review and demonstration of existing mission-critical systems at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Control infrastructure and other commercial locations.
